We all experience the roller coaster of life, but we all experience it differently. And because of this we could be at our highest peak, our lowest point, or zooming full speed into the next bottom. We all know that feeling of dropping off that high peak to the bottom, the plummet that leaves your tummy turning and possibly your lunch coming back with a vengeance. It is terrifying, the true exhilaration not coming until you’ve made it to safety. So, how do we make sure we make it to safety?
Even with so many differences; in personal experiences, diagnoses, and present situations, there are many things to learn in order to help better yourself. That is where I come in.
I have my Bachelor’s of Science in Psychological Science and in that program I minored in Family Studies. I graduated my program from an accredited university with over a 3.5 GPA average. During and after my schooling I also worked in a child and adolescent crisis intervention inpatient psychiatric unit. My role was a “Behavioral Health Specialist”. The responsibilities included:
– Development, research, and teaching mental health topics and skills for application into patients lives.
– Behavior intervention and de-escalation.
– Assistance in creating and applying specialized patient programs.
– And most importantly: listening.
In short, you can think of the role as a teacher and counselor with behavioral health programming. The average stay of a single patient was about 5-7 days, so I saw many different people throughout my time.
I have always loved psychology and have been reading textbook and non-fiction research novels since middle school. I even remember the first book I bought in 6th grade that sucked me even more into this rabbit hole.
I let you know all this so you can make your own judgements on my expertise, though many other sites out there are just recycled information from a person just learning a topic themselves. Here I want to teach topics and promote techniques that I myself have tried and seen many others succeed with. I want to show you how you can make simple changes to better yourself.
While psychology is not the career path I am continuing on, it is my greatest passion and love. So, know that I will put my everything into accuracy and applicability.
Keep lazing in the pond for updates and posts. Stay Froggy my friends.
